Psychosis has taken over the economic capital to the point where several businesses had to close early on the evening of Saturday, August 24. And for good reason? Bandits sowed chaos on Friday, August 23. Armed with machetes, knives, scissors and many other bladed weapons, they crisscrossed the neighborhoods of the economic capital to spread fear.
The first victims were identified in the Salsa district, in the 3e district of the city of sand. There, nearly twenty people were savagely attacked with knives by these thugs who defy military authority.
“Local authorities have been instructed to search for, track down and bring to justice all those involved in any way in these unfortunate events.”said Paul Ngome Ayong, governor of the province of Ogooué-Maritime, in a martial tone.
Omboué-Central, at Trois métis, at Amégasse, Boule-Noire, Qaurtier-Sud are among the other neighborhoods where peaceful and honest citizens have been targeted. Robbed, others who put up resistance saw their blood flow to the ground. Some lost their fingers and hands to name just a few. After the attacks and in a long-observed weakness, the authorities are trying to come out of their den, they who know where the problem really lies.
In its statement, the provincial authority said that it is necessary to “ensure the greatest possible publicity for arrests, in particular by publishing the identities and images of the offenders.”
“Inter-force patrols will crisscross the economic capital to ensure the permanence of public order and social tranquility,” he concluded.
