The 8-year-old did not expect that an ordinary day would end in tragedy. The Saudi child, Turki Al-Rashidi, drowned last Monday near his home, after he went out to play, while sadness pervaded the seventh district of King Fahd Suburb in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia.
They found him submerged in 6 meters of water
While the child’s uncle explained that Turki returned from school after performing the tests, and started playing in the yard of the house, and when he was lost, the parents went out to search for him, and found him drowned in a swamp that is 6 meters deep.
Then they immediately called the Civil Defense, who came and retrieved the child’s body, and the Red Crescent took him to the hospital, but he was already dead.

In addition, the uncle stated that Turki’s father is a person with special needs, stressing that for 3 years he has been asking the responsible authorities to solve the problem of the swamp, but without a response.
He also confirmed that 3 children have drowned in the swamp since 2016, without any action from the responsible authorities to fill it.
It is noteworthy that the mayor of the Eastern Province, Fahd Al-Jubeir, was directed yesterday to investigate the incident and coordinate with all concerned authorities to treat and secure the sites of dangerous water gatherings.
