Two gunmen from annexed East Jerusalem opened fire on people near a bus stop in the western part of the city, where there are no checkpoints at the entrance to the city, the report said.

“Two terrorists arrived in a car, one armed with an M-16 assault rifle and the other with a pistol,” Jerusalem Police Chief Doron Torgeman told reporters at the scene.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the shooting attack in Jerusalem on Thursday and called for “intensification of resistance”.

Five members of the Jewish state’s security forces were also injured in the attack, and all three attackers were killed by Israeli police.

Hamas’ armed military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attack.
