Suspects caught by police investigators leave the court one following another.

There are five people including A, the head of the Hyundai Industrial Development site, who was interrogated before being arrested on charges of manslaughter and negligence on the job.

<현장음> “(Do you admit the charges?) … (Did you review the stability when changing the construction method?) …”

The court issued arrest warrants for three people, including the head of the Hyundai Industrial Development site, the head of the construction department, and the head of the quality test room.

The court explained the reason for issuing the arrest warrant, saying, “There is a risk of destroying evidence.”

However, the arrest warrants for two construction workers were dismissed on the grounds of agreement with the victim’s family.

In relation to the collapse, the police have booked a total of 20 people so far and are investigating.

In addition to the five persons in charge of Hyundai Development, an arrest warrant has been applied for for two persons including the site manager of the subcontractor, Gahyeon General Construction, on charges of negligent manslaughter and other work-related injuries.

The interrogation of the suspects before their arrest will be held next week.

In the future, it is expected that new recruits will be processed for supervision, etc.

The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport analyzed the main causes of the collapse as not installing Dongbari, unauthorized changes in construction methods, and insufficient concrete strength.

<김규용 건설사고조사위원회 위원장 / 지난 14일> “It was judged that it was a human resource caused by overall insolvency such as poor construction management and supervision functions.”

Meanwhile, on January 11, at the construction site of Hwajeong I-Park in Gwangju, 23 floors collapsed, killing 6 workers.
