3 months wages in case of job loss: The new scheme will come into effect from January 1

Abu Dhabi: UAE to implement mandatory unemployment insurance scheme from January 1 This is a scheme that provides wages for 3 months in case of job loss. This scheme is mandatory for both locals and foreigners. The authorities said that the project was designed with the aim of providing an opportunity to live decently during the period of unemployment.

As per the convenience of the employee there is an option to pay the premium monthly or once in 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Those whose monthly salary is less than 16,000 dirhams will pay 5 dirhams and those with more than 10 dirhams will have to pay the premium per month.

Those enrolled in the first scheme will receive an amount not exceeding Dh10,000 per month in case of job loss, and those in the second category will receive an amount not exceeding Dh20,000. Those who are part of the scheme should submit an application for compensation within 30 days if they lose their job. Compensation will be received within 2 weeks. The requirement is to have worked in an organization for at least 12 consecutive months to get compensation. The benefit is available to those who are dismissed for no reason. At the same time, the officials said that those who were fired or resigned due to disciplinary action will not get the benefit.
