The Cyprus Turkish Journalists Association (KTGB) will organize events for the 3 May World Press Freedom Day.
KTGB, UN’s World Press Freedom Day; It will organize a week-long series of events in line with the theme it has identified as “Shaping the future of rights: Freedom of expression as the driving force of all other people’s rights”.
It will also draw attention to freedom of press and expression by organizing a social media campaign.
The events will start with a press conference to be held on Tuesday morning, May 2nd.
On Wednesday, May 3, a panel on “Freedom of the Press” will be held under the moderation of journalist Canan Onurer. Speakers of the panel will be President of the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association Hasan Esendağlı and journalist/writer Cenk Mutluyakalı.
On Thursday, May 4, a documentary on “Drugs and the effects of drug news in the press” will be screened and an interview will be held.
The documentary “I Saw I Heard I Know” will be screened at night. After the screening, an interview will be held with the director of the documentary, Faik Uzuner, and journalist/writer Hasan Karaokçu, moderated by journalist Damla Soyalp.
The activities will be completed with the “Inclusive language use in the media” panel on Friday, May 5th. Refugee Rights Association Communication Specialist and Coordinator Gizem Çelebiaziz and Project Coordinator Deniz Altıok will take place as speakers at the panel.
All events will take place at 20.00 at the Cyprus Turkish Journalists Union Complex.
