Amorepacific announced on the 17th that through a recent regular internal audit, three sales staff embezzled 3.5 billion won of company money and took disciplinary action against them. They embezzled gift certificates by converting them into cash or by supplying products to customers and stealing money. They are said to have used the stolen money to invest in stocks or to gamble illegally.

An Amorepacific official said, “We opened a personnel committee and fired all three embezzlers and recovered most of the embezzlement money.” As for the reason for not disclosing the embezzlement, he said, “The amount of embezzlement does not correspond to more than 5% of the equity capital, so it is not a mandatory disclosure matter.”
