Abu Dhabi : As many as 3.5 lakh mangrove seeds have been planted so far on Jubilee Island in Abu Dhabi as part of the 10 lakh mangrove project. A comprehensive project is being implemented at Jubilee Kandal Park. It is expected to be able to absorb 1150 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year with the completion of the one million mangroves project. Jubail Kandal Park covers an area of 19 sq. Km.
The project is expected to be completed by 2030. Carbon Free UAE It’s part of the 2050 concept. Drones are used to sow the seeds by understanding the exact conditions of the environment. A single drone can sow 2000 seeds at a time. Their growth and health will be assessed at regular intervals under the guidance of the Environment Agency.
Mangroves play a vital role in maintaining the coastal balance. Abu Dhabi Municipality is conducting comprehensive awareness programs on mangrove conservation and workshops and seminars for all ages.
Prince William of the U.K. During the visit, it was announced that Jubilee Island would soon become the headquarters of a new global hub for research and innovation aimed at mangrove conservation.
