3-2. Maupay revives Brentford; Reguilón debuts 26 minutes

Sports editorial, January 20 (EFE).- In the 67th minute, just two after Nottingham Forest’s 2-2, Neal Maupay controlled the area, turned and hit the winning volley for Brentford (3-2), who came back after five consecutive defeats in the ‘Premier League’ in a match in which their new signing, Sergio Reguilón, made his debut.

Brentford first overcame Danilo’s 0-1 lead – a great right-footed volley goal on the verge of the third minute of play – and turned the score around with goals from Ivan Toney, scorer of the 1-1 scoreline in the 20th minute, with a a direct free kick that revealed the placement of the barrier, and Ben Mee, who made it 2-1 in the 58th minute with an accurate header.

It was not enough then, with Chris Wood’s 2-2, also a header in the 65th minute, until Maupay’s winning goal, minutes before the debut of Sergio Reguilón, on loan from Tottenham until the end of the campaign and in the field from 74. He played 26 minutes, due to the addition of ten that the duel referee decreed.

Brentford, now fourteenth, six points clear of relegation, is ahead of Nottingham Forest in the standings, which is sixteenth, four behind the penultimate place occupied by Luton. EFE
