ALTENBERG/LINZ. Pascal Kitzmüller from Altenberg and Karl Weixelbaumer from Linz, better known as 2:tages:bart, are true all-rounders. In addition to their work as DJs, they are presenters, event organizers, entrepreneurs, podcasters and brand ambassadors. Where did the idea for the name come from and what is her sleep pattern like? The Tips youth editorial team asked the duo.
When the two met in 2010, they were looking for something they had in common that might be incorporated into their names. “We both really liked vanilla crescents, that’s why we wanted to call ourselves that. But then we thought that it was a bit strange in the summer and so we focused on external similarities and that’s when the beard stuck out on our faces,” recalls Kitzmüller: “That quickly became 2:tages:bart, because there were two of us are. By the way, the colons are supposed to symbolize the stubble.”
Every beginning is (not) difficult
It was not planned to organize events ourselves and appear as DJs. As students, they would have liked to go to cool parties, but there were too few of them. That’s why they organized parties themselves. “However, the DJs there didn’t play the music we wanted to hear. So we did it ourselves,” emphasizes Kitzmüller: “At some point following many of our own events, discos suddenly asked us regarding booking. Then the ball started rolling and we performed more and more often.”
Seven day week
In the summer they work around 70 to 80 hours over seven days in a normal week. When asked whether sleep is neglected, Kitzmüller answers: “What is a sleep rhythm? We don’t really know that. This is often the most strenuous thing regarding our work, that we sleep irregularly and little. But you’re happy to accept that if the job gives you everything else.” Entertaining people is what they love. There is a certain routine involved in the performances, but they always try something new to surprise the guests and themselves.
Breakfast with beer
“An absolute highlight for us was Sepp Forcher as a Alex Reed on our podcast ‘Breakfast with Beer’, whom we were able to interview two years before his death,” says the Altenberger. Other guests included Hans Knauss, Toni Faber, Alex Kristan and DJ Ötzi. From January 2024, Kitzmüller and Weixelbaumer can also be seen on television. In their series “Let’s have fun” the two meet personalities and celebrities at various places in Austria. “We get to experience so many great and exciting things that we are happy to take any time in the world to do something like that,” the two answer when asked what filming the TV show is like alongside all the other activities.
After so many years together, do you sometimes get on each other’s nerves? “Of course, but our goals are set together and we want to provide good entertainment and put a smile on people’s faces for many years to come. “That connects us very strongly and allows us to quickly forget one or two arguments,” say 2:tages:bart unanimously.
