By 2030, Tunisia wants to install 1.5 GW of photovoltaic power intended to represent an essential part of the 30% of renewable energies in its electricity mix.

A press conference was held recently to present the second edition of the International Energy Transition Exhibition “Site 2023”, which took place from October 25 to 27, 2023 in Tunis. The show is an initiative of the Photovoltaic Trade Union Chamber “Cspv”, under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, in partnership with the Management Company of the Borj Cedria Technopole and the support for projects from the Energy and Climate program of “GIZ Tunisia”.

The objective of this exhibition is to highlight the regulatory, technological, technical, financial aspects, etc. relating to the development of renewable energy projects. Its mission is also to promote energy efficiency both in Tunisia and internationally.

A place for public and private operators

In this context, Ali Kanzari, president of the Csvp, mentioned that the Chamber was founded in 2015. Drawing on the rich experience of its active members in photovoltaic system installations, the Cspv offered an innovative service which allows its members to evolve in an environment favorable to all questions linked to their professional development. “Our missions are multiple: to bring together the integrators of the sectprivate photovoltaic network in Tunisia and develop a strong and extensive professional network, acting for the promotion of renewable energies and photovoltaic solar. This show is therefore an international site for the energy transition. It brings together public and private operators from different backgrounds. We will focus on the first day on the private sector which is at the service of a sustainable energy transition. The second day will focus on new technologies serving a sustainable energy transition in Tunisia. The last day will focus on the financing of energy transition programs and projects which is the crux of the matter. Our goal is to support businesses by providing support, advice and reliable information in real time as well as promoting the image of the sector across borders and developing international partnerships.

Build partnerships

For his part, Taieb Ketari, member of the executive office and responsible for energy at Utica, revealed that “this seminar was organized mainly for the awareness of exhibitors who will participate in this show. This unmissable exhibition bringing together key national and international players in the energy transition, aims to boost the energy transition, build partnerships, explore technologies and innovations and assess financing opportunities. The energy transition is very important today, because we are going through very difficult times.” Ketari calls for immediate solutions to accelerate the development of renewable energies. According to him, Tunisia can become a leader in the field since it is endowed with unparalleled natural resources, namely the sun and the wind.
