290 Badminton Players from 8 Countries Compete for Total Prize of Rp1 Billion in Super League

A FIERCE BATTLE of young badminton athletes will be presented at the Djarum GOR Magelang, Central Java. Titled Polytron Superliga Junior 2024, as many as 290 young badminton players U-17 and U-19 from eight countries will show their best action from Monday (12/8) to Sunday (18/8). In addition to Indonesia, athletes also come from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong China, China and New Zealand.

They are fighting for four prestigious trophies, namely the Liem Swie King Cup (U-19 Men), Susy Susanty Cup (U-19 Women), Hariyanto Arbi Cup (U-17 Men), Yuni Kartika Cup (U-17 Women). Not only fighting for the trophies taken from the names of Indonesian badminton legends, the young badminton players are also competing to take home a total prize of more than Rp1 billion.

Polytron Commercial Director, Tekno Wibowo, said that Polytron Superliga Junior 2024 is an event for young athletes to show their abilities and increase their competitiveness by competing against international athletes. In addition, he also hopes that Polytron Superliga Junior 2024 can be an event to build friendships between the young athletes who compete.

Our support is part of Polytron’s commitment to developing the national sports world, especially for Indonesian junior badminton athletes. Hopefully this championship can be a great opportunity for talented young badminton athletes to show their talents and compete with high sportsmanship, a spirit of nationalism, and uphold the values ​​of friendship,” he said.

In line with this, Superliga Director, Achmad Budiharto, said that the Superliga Junior event which adopted the team match format is expected to make athletes accustomed to hunting for the championship title as a unit that prioritizes togetherness, cooperation and solidity in more prestigious events, such as the Thomas and Uber Cups. For that, he welcomed the increasing number of participants from abroad which will make the competition towards the highest podium even fiercer and more competitive.

“Polytron Superliga Junior is an important tournament for the development of young athletes’ abilities because it carries a team format so that athletes do not only rely on individual abilities but must also build values ​​of togetherness and cooperation as a team so that they can win the title. I am optimistic that the competition will be tight because the number of participants from foreign countries that are quite strong in badminton sports such as China, Malaysia and Thailand also take part in this tournament,” said Budiharto.

As the defending champion in the previous edition of the Polytron Superliga Junior, this year PB Djarum is fielding its full strength by fielding seven teams in the four categories being competed.

PB Djarum Team Manager, Fung Permadi said that the large number of players fielded in the 2024 Polytron Superliga Junior was inseparable from PB Djarum’s ambition to repeat the success of the previous year and win the defending champion title again. In addition, he also wanted to make this tournament an event to hone the skills of the athletes being trained even higher, considering the large number of participants from abroad. (Z-6)
