28-year-old found dead in bed in Vienna-Döbling

The neighbors of a 28-year-old alerted the police shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Friday after they noticed traces of blood in front of the apartment entrance. The police then found the dead man, who, according to the autopsy, died of bleeding to death. Neither an accident nor third-party negligence can currently be ruled out.

Autopsy ordered

The officers were able to enter the apartment in Döbling through an open window, the police reported on Saturday, after knocking several times without an answer. Due to the injuries to the head and back, an autopsy was ordered by the Vienna public prosecutor’s office. Due to the nature of the injuries – according to police spokeswoman Barbara Gass, they were mainly lacerations – neither an accident nor third-party negligence can currently be ruled out. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation.

Bottle hit on head

Most recently, a worrying death was reported from Favoriten. Here, a 24-year-old initially stated that he had found his roommate of the same age lying lifeless in bed at midnight on Sunday. The emergency services could only confirm death; the cause of death was head injuries, but their origin was initially unclear. Yesterday, Friday, however, the Vienna police reported that the man had been hit on the head by his roommate with a bottle during a violent altercation. The suspect, who confessed to this, was taken to a prison for intentionally causing serious bodily harm resulting in death.
