2023-06-16 19:40:18

As the highlight of Vienna Pride on Saturday, the rainbow parade will again parade for the rights of LGBTIQ people around the Ring in Vienna. The annual and, according to the organizational team, “Austria’s largest demonstration”, which is taking place for the 27th time this year, moves “the other way around”, i.e. against the direction of travel. At the end of the day, the After Pride Celebration will be held at Rathausplatz with local artists and stage stars Conchita and Felix Jaehn.

The Homosexual Initiative (HOSI) Vienna, which has been responsible for the organization for 20 years, emphasizes the importance of the colorful event, which was attended by many thousands of people, as “an important sign of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) life”. Previously, as part of the Vienna Pride event series, the focus had been on the diversity of people in the LGBTIQ community since the beginning of June, as well as problems such as protection against discrimination or a ban on so-called conversion therapies. The rainbow parade opens at 12:15 p.m. with speeches at Rathausplatz, from 1 p.m. it moves around the Ring from the Burgtheater and ends at 6 p.m. on Rathausplatz.
