Deputy Home Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto unveiled teh official date for the inauguration of the 270 regional heads elected in the 2024 Local Elections – February 6, 2025.
The inauguration ceremony, slated to occur in three distinct batches, will adhere to Article 164B of Law No. 10 of 2016, wich allows for the simultaneous swearing-in of regional leaders. The first group, comprising 270 elected heads whose victories remain unchallenged in the Constitutional Court, will be inaugurated on February 6.
Notably, Jakarta’s newly elected governor and vice governor, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, will be among those inaugurated on this date.
“The second batch will encompass regional heads whose electoral victories have been confirmed by the court following the dismissal of disputes filed against them,” Sugiarto explained.
He further added, “The third batch will include regional heads elected through repeat elections mandated by the court in cases where disputes were upheld.” The timing for the subsequent batches hinges on the resolution of electoral dispute cases within the Constitutional Court.
Sugiarto also revealed that President Prabowo Subianto was informed about the inauguration date for the first ceremony during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.It was a decision reached in unison by the ministry and parliament. “The president responded positively to the details, and the date has also received unanimous approval from parliament,” Sugiarto confirmed.
