THE Israeli MILITARY reported two deaths of its troops in northern Gaza, Palestine, on Monday (6/5). These two latest victims increase the Israeli military’s death toll to 268 people.

“The two reservists served in Brigade 551 Battalion 6551. Both are 31 years old and each holds the rank of major,” the military said in a post on social media.

Four Israeli soldiers were killed in Palestinian rocket fire on Sunday (5/5) near the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) border crossing in Israel. According to figures provided by the UN, a total of 266 Israeli soldiers were killed as of Sunday (5/5) and 1,610 others were injured since the start of Israel’s ground invasion of Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has killed several Palestinians in separate air strikes in Gaza. Wafa news agency reported that an Israeli bomb hit a house in the central Rafah administrative district killing one person and wounding another.

Previously, Wafa reported that at least 12 people were killed in three separate attacks on Rafah, as the Israeli military intensified its attack on the city in southern Gaza. Wafa also reported that three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the al-Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City. Another person was killed when an Israeli bomb hit a house in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City.

Meanwhile, Hamas said they had agreed to the Egyptian-Qatar proposal to realize a ceasefire in Gaza. But Israel says the deal does not meet their demands.

Based on a copy of the proposal approved by Hamas there will be three phases to end Israel’s war in Gaza. In the first phase, there will be a temporary cessation of hostilities between Hamas and Israel as well as the withdrawal of Israeli troops to the east and the current border areas between Israel and the Palestinian territories.

In the same phase, Israeli warplanes and drones will also stop flying over Gaza for 10 hours each day and for 12 hours on days when the prisoners will be released. (Aljazeera/Z-2)
