25 years of Bang Boom Bang: Cinema shows film in 14 halls – with stars | NOZ

A sure thing in the 1309th week of cinema: 25 years after the Ruhrpott comedy “Bang Boom Bang” was released in cinemas, the film is still being shown weekly on the big screen in Bochum. To mark the anniversary this evening, the UCI Multiplex cinema is showing the cult film in all 14 cinema halls.

More than 2,300 fans have tickets and want to celebrate a quarter of a century of the film’s run together with some of the cast and crew. According to UCI, director Peter Thorwarth, as well as actors Ralf Richter, Oliver Korittke and Christian Karmann, have announced that they will be attending.

The gangster comedy was Thorwarth’s cinema debut in 1999 and Diether Krebs’ last film before he died in January 2000. In it, he plays a sleazy freight forwarder. The film is considered a cult classic because many of the quotes (“90 minutes of hardcore, real emotions”) have become classics. Saying things like “I’m just working on something myself,” goofy amateur gangsters want to pull off a “surefire thing,” as the subtitle says. Of course, everything goes wrong.

Watch the trailer for “Bang Boom Bang” here:

More important than the story are the guys who cavort between the gas station and the mining settlement: Ralf Richter as a villain with a mullet, Jochen Nickel as a video store owner and producer of absurdly bad sex films, Oliver Korittke as a pot-smoking petty criminal and Martin Semmelrogge as an under-exposed “sucker” have played their way into the hearts of the audience.
