In Heestert (Zwevegem), West Flanders, a fatal traffic accident occurred this Saturday morning. A trader was driving his truck to the market when he collided with a passenger car in the Stijn Streuvelsstraat.
The driver of the car, Samira, a 24-year-old woman from Zwevegem, was ejected from the vehicle by the impact and died on the spot. The West Flanders public prosecutor’s office, Kortrijk section, has appointed a traffic expert to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
“She always saw the good in people”
Samira was returning from Gentse Feesten around 5:30 a.m. when the terrible accident happened and had not drunk any alcohol. Her friends, in shock, testify: “She always saw the good in people, that characterized her enormously”, declared one of them to Het Laatste Nieuws. On Facebook, there are also many tributes: “You leave such a great void, and I already miss you so much”, “It’s a great loss for us”, can we read in particular on the social network.
” I might not do anything ”
For his part, the truck driver spoke regarding this tragic event. Everything happened so fast. Too fast. “She arrived quickly,” Koen Glorieux told Niuewsblad. “She got in my way, I mightn’t do anything. I got out of my truck but didn’t even look, I immediately called the police. »
The man knows that a family is now bereaved. “It’s terrible for her. I don’t wish that on anyone. I have been doing this route for forty years and I am happy when I arrive at the Avelgem market. This is the road I like the least…”
