“It was really the rage we had. We felt like animals,” says Sébastien Mercadier.

Sébastien had a great vacation in the Dominican Republic, but the return trip last Saturday took another turn. Once boarded the plane at 7:45 p.m., the passengers had to exit 3 hours later.

The flight was eventually cancelled.

Back in the airport terminus, some found their shattered luggage.

Air Transat employees were unable to find hotel rooms for everyone.

It’s a hundred people who had to sleep on the floor of the entrance hall of the airport.

“No water, no toilets, no food”, denounces a traveler.

“No wall at the entrance so all the space for the mosquitoes to go and bite the world, and there was no air conditioning, there was no seat so old people slept on the floor like dogs,” adds Catherine Fournier, a traveler on flight TS499.

By email, Air Transat apologized to its travelers and explained that this situation was beyond their control. The carrier also says it will reimburse any outstanding expenses and compensate passengers on that flight. The carrier gives them a travel credit of $400, an offer deemed insufficient according to the travelers met.
