Your beginnings?
Sonia Faidi: At 7 years old, I started theater at the Conservatory and I haven’t stopped since. When I finished high school, I joined the Cours Florent in the evening classes alongside my journalism degree, then I ended up joining the Classe Libre full-time.
Your first role?
A series broadcast in 2023 on France.tv Slash, Dear Ours. I moved on to my first feature film, Before the flames go out (2023) directed by Mehdi Fikri.
You play Nour, a strong-willed young girl going through a family tragedy. The challenge of embodying him?
Showing a real connection between family members while having a nuanced and different journey through grief than the siblings in the film. A real gift, this role!
Learning to identify your character is…
My favorite part of the process. The phase before filming is magical. To prepare myself, I notably reread the book Discretion by Faïza Guène.
