23-year-old man arrested for fatal shooting in IJmuiden | Domestic

A 23-year-old man from Velsen is in custody because he may be involved in the fatal shooting incident in IJmuiden on Tuesday evening. The suspect reported himself to an Amsterdam police station on the evening of the shooting.

The man remains in custody for the time being and is being interrogated. The police have not ruled out that more people will be arrested and are calling on witnesses to come forward.

Someone was killed in the shooting incident in IJmuiden on Tuesday evening. The incident took place around 6.40 pm on Kromme Mijdrechtstraat. There the officers found the victim.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.

IJmuiden has been dealing with violence in the city for some time. For this reason, Mayor Frank Dales of the municipality of Velsen, which includes IJmuiden, designated almost all of IJmuiden as a safety risk area on January 19.
