According to a recent report, Aiden Pleterski, who stole $29 million from his investors, was kidnapped and held for a ransom of millions.
The Canadian, also known as the “crypto king”, was kidnapped Aiden Pleterskitfollowing swindling millions from his investors to spend the money on luxury cars, vacations, and private jets.
It was already known that the self-proclaimed “crypto king” had many enemies, but it was only recently revealed that Pleterski was kidnapped in the middle of the night in December. The crypto-swindler’s father, Adam Peters, said he received a call late at night demanding a ransom of C$3 million ($2.1 million). Peters also reported that her son was then beaten and tortured.
According to his father, Pleterski, 23, was allegedly released following a few days, but was threatened that he would have to come up with the money quickly. The kidnappers allowed Pleterski to make only a few calls, which the fraudster used to ask for money from acquaintances. For example, he also called his landlord, who, according to him, Pleterski begged him for the million-dollar ransom.
“I told him there was nothing I might do.” – stated its main tenant.
No suspects have been identified in connection with the kidnapping, and Toronto police have not released information regarding the suspected kidnapper or whether anyone has been arrested.
Pleterski stored the stolen money in a warehouse
According to lawyer Norman Groot, who was hired by some defrauded investors, Pleterski ran a Ponzi scheme and used his clients’ investments to buy luxury cars and villas.
By the way, Groot is trying to find out how much Pleterski transferred from his account, but according to him, the losses might easily reach double the 29 million dollars.
It’s also worth noting that while Pleterski took $29 million from investors and told them he was investing it in crypto, he actually invested $485,000. This is less than two percent of the total. The remaining 28 and a half million dollars was stored by the crypto-fraudster in the form of cash in a warehouse, which he bought for 362 thousand dollars.
Pleterski’s parents received more than $1.1 million
The 23-year-old crypto fraudster is on Instagram he regularly shared pictures of his latest luxury cars or of his vacations, on which he almost always traveled by private plane. Pleterski regularly posted that he was vacationing on luxury yachts, jet-skiing, having oysters and wine for dinner with his friends, or sitting in the front row at the concerts of the most famous singers.
The luxurious lifestyle of the self-proclaimed “crypto king” is also demonstrated by the fact that he owned at least 10 sports cars, including a rare McLaren Senna, which he bought for more than $1 million in September 2021.
He also spent more than $700,000 on the villa he lived in and gave another $940,000 to an associate, but according to Rob Stelzer, who was commissioned to prepare the reports, even Pleterski’s parents got roughly $800,000 from their son. And while the parents said they knew Pleterski was running an investment firm, Stelzer alleges the scammer’s parents profited more than $1.1 million from their son’s scheme.
Stelzer said there may be many more who lost money in Pleterski’s Ponzi scheme, and encouraged them to come forward.
“We know that $41 million came into his account.” – He told. “We know that only $25 million has been claimed. You can count.”
