Vienna (OTS) – To develop Donau City, the coverings of Leonard-Bernstein-Strasse and Donau-City-Strasse were built together with the covering of the A 22, Kaisermühlen Tunnel, and put into operation in 1996.
After more than 25 years, repair work is required in the Leonard-Bernstein-Straße tunnel and in the collectors above. On the part of the City of Vienna – bridge construction and foundation construction, selective measures are being carried out on the cladding structure.
On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the City of Vienna – bridge construction and foundation construction together with the City of Vienna – road administration and road construction will begin repairing the paving of Leonard-Bernstein-Straße. For this purpose, the first traffic change will be set up on the night of December 4th, 2023 to December 5th, 2023. On Leonard-Bernstein-Straße, one lane will be closed in each direction, with at least one lane in each direction remaining open.
General traffic measures: As part of the repair of Leonard-Bernsteinstrasse, there will be traffic restrictions in the area of Leonard-Bernstein-Strasse, Donau-Citystrasse, the IAKW junction and the entrances and exits to the A22 in this area.
There will be lane closures on Leonard-Bernstein-Strasse and Donau-Citystrasse, with one lane per direction being maintained. The access and exit routes to UNO City, the Vienna International Center and the Austria Center Vienna via Leonard Bernstein Street will remain in place during the construction period.
As part of the work, there will also be occasional weekend closures in the relevant areas from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. Speed limit throughout the construction site area is 30km/h.

- Location of the construction site: 22nd, between Donaupark and Donau City. On the A 22 road section, take the “Vienna International Center” exit until you reach the intersection of Leonard Bernstein Straße/Bruno Kreisky Platz.
