220,000 people at the Pflasterspektakel | Nachrichten.at

In a lively atmosphere and perfect weather, 220,000 visitors enjoyed the cobblestone spectacle in Linz’s city center. The 36th edition of the street art festival once again delighted young and old and is also considered an important economic factor in the summer.

More than 100 artists and groups from more than 30 nations showed off their skills over three days – around half of them were taking part in the Linz Festival for the first time this year. The performances ranged from acrobatics to comedy and clowning to juggling, dance, magic and the popular fire shows. “The numerous international artists and the high quality of the performances once again captivated the audience,” says City Councillor for Culture Doris Lang-Mayerhofer (VP). The city of Linz also drew a positive conclusion, saying that it was a festival of diversity, shared experiences and joy. According to the organizers, the Pflasterspektakel went off without any major problems or incidents.

The visitors not only admired the more than 800 performances at the 40 venues, but also needed refreshments and did some shopping. This makes them an important factor for the catering and retail sectors, says Lang-Mayerhofer.

According to the City Councillor for Culture, the quiet island and the eight spectacle oases in courtyards and squares have proven particularly useful due to the heat. In addition to seating, there are also plenty of shade. Next year, the Pflasterspektakel is scheduled for July 17-19.
