22-year-old man robs around 30 homes in Luanda – Jornal OPaís

A 22-year-old national citizen was arrested for having robbed around 30 residences in various neighborhoods in the Urban districts of Sambizanga, Ingombota and Rangel, with greater incidence. The spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), Fernando de Carvalho, explained, yesterday, at a press conference, Emanuel Capita, the young man in question, carried out his evil actions in the dead of night, precisely between 1am and 5am, without anyone’s help. To this end, he was accompanied by objects such as screwdrivers and a hydraulic jack, in order to deform the bars of windows or doors and try to sneak into homes, according to the investigating officer.

“In which he stole monetary values, cell phones, ATM cards, computers and other household items of interest to him”, he highlighted. After that, he sold the stolen goods to people who sell these materials in informal markets. For this reason, he has strong evidence of having committed the crimes of qualified theft. “The investigative work found that this citizen is a frequent user of these practices, with several stints with the Police, with arrests recorded in more than six Urban Districts in the Municipality of Luanda,” he said.

He also said that this young man’s CV states that, in addition to the arrests mentioned above, he was already arrested in the District of Luanda, in 2018, and in the District of Viana, in 2020. “In this case, eight Huawei and Samsung cell phones were seized and a black wristwatch”, he stressed. Emanuel Capita was presented, this Tuesday, in the Courtyard of the Rangel District Command attached to the Municipal Command, and was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Guarantee Judge. The latter, based on the preliminary evidence, ordered preventive detention and must answer, at trial, for the crime of qualified theft.
