In the UK, a 22-month-old baby girl died just hours after being sent home from the emergency room, where her parents were simply told to give her paracetamol.

It is a tragic story that relates Le Daily Mail. On December 7, parents Hailey Thompson, 22 months, took the little girl, who was coughing and had a runny nose, to the doctor. Antibiotics are prescribed to her, which she however quickly stops after an allergic reaction. A week later, the Thompsons return to the doctor. According to the latter, Hailey finally has a viral infection and needs paracetamol.

However, the next day, December 18, the girl’s father found her panting in bed. He then calls an ambulance. He is informed that there is a two hour wait. He decides to take her directly to the emergency room, which is overloaded that day.

A doctor only tests Hailey’s blood pressure. He sends the family home, advising the parents to continue giving him paracetamol. He also tells them that if the child’s condition has not improved within three days, to bring her back to the emergency room.

Only a few hours later, the little girl is found unconscious in her bed. Her father tries to resuscitate her before help arrives. The little girl was quickly transported to the hospital. But his life unfortunately could not be saved.

Her parents now lament that Hailey’s case was not taken seriously enough by doctors. “We can’t believe we lost our little girl. Everything happened so quickly,” reacted her father to our colleagues. “We want answers. How can a healthy baby die in his sleep?”
