21 years ago today, on November 21, 2001 Super Smash Bros. Melee first released in Japan for the Nintendo GameCube – the European release followed six months later. Even in times of the Nintendo Switch, the fun brawler is still very popular with fans and ensures regular headlines. Masahiro Sakurai has matching the 21st anniversary published a YouTube video in which, among other things, he gave exclusive insights into Story drafts and concept drawings for the CG opening has shared. Be it Sheik playing the harp, the Zelda image in the starry sky or Kirby’s appearance on the warp star – every second of the intro was planned in detail.
