2034 Football World Cup: Saudi Arabia begins hosting campaign

Saudi Arabia on Friday officially launched its bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

In October last year, Saudi Arabia was the only country to show interest in hosting the mega event in 2034.

Therefore, this campaign is a formal action because there is no country compared to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Football Federation has launched the campaign with the slogan ‘Growing Together’. The number 34 is formed with the help of multi-colored ribbons, which is the logo of the campaign.

According to the federation: ‘This logo is designed to reflect Saudi Arabia’s youth, vibrant society and rich heritage.’

FIFA is expected to approve Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the World Cup without any competition.

The decision will be ratified by FIFA’s 211-member federation in a referendum by the end of 2024. However, no date and venue for voting has been announced yet.

No new details were given about the cities and stadiums that will host the matches. The tournament is expected to be held in November-December 2034 in which 48 teams will participate.

Currently, Saudi Arabia plans to host the tournament alone. Although later some matches may be played in neighboring and nearby countries.

The first 48-team men’s World Cup will be played in 2026 in the US, Canada and Mexico.
