2030 World Cup: Morocco seduces FIFA with the construction of the largest African stadium!

The consortium led by Populous architects and Tarik Oualalou’s firm (Oualalou+Choi) have unveiled new images of the Hassan II stadium in Benslimane, one of the infrastructures chosen to host the 24th edition of the World Cup scheduled for Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.

This 115,000-seat facility will be the largest football stadium in the world, and the monumental design of its roof will be inspired by the traditional Moussem tents, with green spaces around it. 5 levels, 32 staircases, hanging gardens 28 meters above the ground… it is an authentic jewel that will be built on a plot of approximately 100 hectares in the commune of El Mansouria, in the province of Benslimane.

The façade of the grand stadium will consist of an aluminum lattice, which will cover both the fans inside the stadium and the terraced gardens outside the stands, as well as a botanical garden on the ground floor. Fully approved by FIFA, this brand new stadium will host the final of the 2030 World Cup, and will symbolize the rise of Moroccan football on the world stage.

Hassan II will automatically become the largest football stadium in Africa, ahead of the four largest stadiums in Africa, namely FNB Stadium in South Africa (94,736 seats), Borg El Arab Stadium in Egypt (86,000 seats), Stade des Martyrs in the DRC (80,000 seats), and Stade du 11 Juin in Libya (80,000 seats).
