Chile fell 0-1 against Ecuador at the height of Quito. The Tricolor won at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium with a goal from Ángel Mena, who punished the Chileans with a left foot in the 21st minute. With this victory the Ecuadorians make eight points and remain in the direct classification zone, while Chile deepens its crisis. Uruguay beat Bolivia 3-0 at the Centenario stadium in Montevideo on the sixth date of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with the return of its historic scorer, Luis Suárez. Striker Darwin Núñez scored two goals, at 15 and 71, and the remaining goal was an own goal by Bolivian Gabriel Villamil, at 39. With this victory, Uruguay reached 13 points and became the leader of the World Cup.
