Where Will the Action Be? Group Breakdown!
In Group A, we have the ever-reliable Corinthians, nestled in with Mirassol, Inter de Limeira, and Botafogo. Group B is where Santos will try to flex their muscles against Guarani, Portuguesa, and Red Bull Bragantino—sounds like a raucous party, doesn’t it? Group C is home to São Paulo alongside Novorizontino, Holy Water (yep, you heard me right), and Northwest. And finally, in Group D, we’ve got Palmeiras (the crème de la crème), Velo Clube, São Bernardo, and Ponte Preta. I mean, even I got tired just reading that out loud!
The Mysterious Calendar Change
The Paulistão has been brought forward to the early weeks of January, meaning football fans will hardly have time to recover from their New Year’s hangovers before diving right back into the beautiful game. This is set to occur between January 12, 2025, and the end of March—because who needs sunshine when you’ve got football?
Why the change? Well, apparently the Brazilian Championship is sticking around for a tantalizing 10 months like that friend who overstays their welcome, and it’ll take a break in the middle for the FIFA Club Super World Cup. Sounds like someone needs a nap!

The São Paulo Football Federation (FPF) held a significant event this Tuesday (12) at the Arena Mercado Livre Pacaembu, where they drew the groups for the much-anticipated 2025 Paulista Championship.
In the group selection process, particular emphasis was placed on the state’s most storied clubs, with Corinthians, Palmeiras, São Paulo, and Santos being designated as the top seeds. The remaining teams were divided into several categories based on their previous performances:
- Bring 1: Palmeiras, Santos, São Paulo, and Corinthians.
- Bring 2: RB Bragantino, Novorizontino, Inter de Limeira, and Ponte Preta.
- Bring 3: Portuguesa, Água Santa, São Bernardo, and Mirassol.
- Bring 4: Botafogo-SP, Guarani, Velo Clube, and Noroeste.
Notably, Corinthians finds itself in Group A, which features a competitive lineup. Additionally, Novorizontino and Mirassol, both currently engaged in a fierce battle for promotion to Series A, have been placed in their respective groups, although the specific groups are yet to be detailed.
The 2025 Paulistão is set to begin earlier than usual, kicking off in the initial weeks of January. The tournament will run from January 12, 2025, through the end of March, showcasing an array of exciting matches.
This change in the schedule is driven by the congested timeline for the Brazilian Championship, which will stretch over ten months. Notably, there will be a pause between June and July due to the FIFA Club Super World Cup, allowing teams to strategize and prepare adequately.
