Indonesian men’s singles badminton player Moh Zaki Ubaidillah contributed a bronze medal for Indonesia at the 2024 World Junior Championships.
In the semifinal match which took place at the Nanchang International Sports Center Gymnasium, Nanchang, China, Saturday (12/10), Ubed, as he is familiarly known, lost to host representative Wang Zi Jun 19-21, 20-22.
This result made him have to settle for winning bronze because he failed to reach the final match. Ubed actually had a chance to win the match because he was always ahead at the start in both the first and second games.

However, during the final half of the match the opponent was able to catch up and turn things around. That was quite regrettable.
“I was ahead in the first and second games but was overtaken because I lost focus,” said Ubed.
“So I made a lot of my own mistakes and wanted to quickly kill my opponent even though in terms of playing pattern I already knew what to do. On the other hand, my opponent played neatly and didn’t make many of his own mistakes,” continued Ubed.
Even though he lost, Ubed was still grateful for his achievements. He is also determined to continue to improve his performance.
“I still say thanks to God that I got here, I was able to get a medal, but I’m not satisfied yet. From my first World Junior Championships, I have a lot to improve in terms of physical and technical aspects,” he said. (Z-9)
