2024 Update: BAES Scholarship Changes and Edenred as Sole Provider | Accepted Supermarkets and Restaurants | Eligibility Criteria

The BAES scholarship (Food Scholarship for Higher Education) awarded by the National Board of School Aid and Scholarships (Junaeb) undergoes changes in 2024, with Edenred as the sole provider following the elimination of Pluxee (Sodexo).

This scholarship has a new amount that will increase progressively during 2024. Currently the payment is $44 thousand and will reach $45,000 nationally and $47,000 for the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region.

According to information provided by Junaeb, beneficiaries can use their card in supermarkets such as Unimarc, St. Elizabeth, Jumbo, Wholesale 10, Erbi and Alvi. Furthermore, more than 10,000 businesses throughout the country accept payments with BAESincluding well-known fast food chains and local restaurants.

Among the notable venues are Buffalo Waffles, Burger King, Chestnut, China Wok, Doggis, Dominoes, Dunkin’ Donuts, Master John, KFC, McDonald’s, among others.

It is important to keep in mind that the scholarship is aimed at students from Higher Education Institutions that belong to the 1st and 3rd quintile of socioeconomic income and who have tariff benefits granted by the Ministry of Education or the Ingresa Commission.

*N from R 25/03/2024: In this note, changes were made that rectify that the new amount granted during 2024 will progressively increase to $45 thousand and is currently at $44 thousand. On the other hand, Tottus was removed from the list of supermarkets that receive Junaeb, since it is not within the Edenred network of businesses.
