Clearly, the 2024 edition of the Tour of Oman will not have been spared. The weather conditions – very heavy rain sometimes causing mudslides and poor water drainage – had already forced the organizers to modify and shorten the stages on Monday (3rd stage, which was notably to be an arrival at the summit) and Tuesday (4th step).
That of this Wednesday, the fifth and last, decisive for the general classification, will also be cut by many kilometers. But the planned arrival at Green Mountain (5.7 km at 10.5%), a very big chunk, is saved. An essential aspect for this Tour of Oman and its ranking to maintain a strong sporting value.
The start was planned in Imty for a finale in Jabal Al Akhdhar (Green Mountain), over 138.7 km. It will ultimately run over 72 kilometers, between Samail “Al Fayhaa Resthouse” and the summit of Green Mountain. Departure will be at 10 a.m. with an arrival expected around 11:50 a.m.
