Good news for some of you: nine Walloon, two Brussels and eleven Flemish municipalities will reduce their tax burden on their residents in 2024, as reported by our colleagues at the Echo.
Indeed, as they point out, municipalities have had the habit, in recent years, of increasing the tax pressure on property owners on the one hand, while reducing taxes on the other, via their “additional physical centss”.
Only, in 2024, 22 Belgian municipalities will reduce the tax burden on their taxpayers. At the top of the ranking, Flanders: Antwerp will reduce its tax rate the most, from 8% to 7%. Lokeren and Looz follow.
On the French-speaking side, it is Bastogne which lightens the load the most, going from 7.5 to 7. Next comes Wasseiges, then Etterbeek.
Here are all the French-speaking municipalities lowering their taxes for this year:
– Bastogne: 7.5% -> 7%
– Etterbeek: 6.3% -> 6%
– Berchem-Saint-Agathe: 6.8% -> 6.5%
– Braine L’Alleud: 5.7% -> 5.5%
