The level of competition in women’s singles skating will seriously decrease. Another contender for victory, Sofya Muravyova, will not compete at the Spartakiad. The athlete withdrew for medical reasons. Thus, experts are already giving victory in the competition to figure skater Adelia Petrosyan.
In men’s single skating, a few months before the Spartakiad in Magnitogorsk, it became known regarding the injury of Alexei Erokhov, who was replaced by promising skater Daniil Samsonov. But a couple of weeks before the competition, it became clear that Pyotr Gumennik would not come to Magnitogorsk. The reason is more than serious – the athlete was diagnosed with double pneumonia and coronavirus.
There have also been significant changes among the couples. Yasmina Kadyrova and Valery Kolesov decided to separate and will not come to Magnitogorsk. Alena Kastornaya and Georgy Kunitsa will also miss the 2024 Spartakiad due to a shoulder injury to their partner. One of these couples was supposed to be replaced by Anastasia Mukhortova and Dmitry Evgeniev, but they will not be able to perform in Magnitogorsk due to Anastasia’s illness. And the couple Taisiya Sobinina and Denis Khodykin withdrew from the competition for the same reason – medical reasons.
In ice dancing, the organizers also missed a total of three couples. Due to health problems, Ekaterina Mironova and Evgeniy Ustenko, Sofia Kachushkina and Mark Volkov, as well as Sofia Tyutyunina and Matvey Grachev will not come to Magnitogorsk. However, the losses of the dancing couples are not so noticeable, because the main contenders for first place will still perform in Magnitogorsk, Sovetsky Sport reports.
Let us remind you that figure skating competitions as part of the Winter Spartakiad of the Strongest will be held in Magnitogorsk from February 16 to 18.
