The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race experienced its first casualty on December 26th, 2024, as defending champion Alive withdrew from the competition due to engine problems. This marks a disappointing turn of events for the Tasmanian yacht, which secured victory in both 2018 and 2023.
