The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, emphasized the importance of the appropriate use of the budget for the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh and North Sumatra, in order to pursue successful achievements and implementation.
“Don’t let there be any gaps, we are here together to look after each other so that the implementation of this PON can be carried out with good accountability and save everyone here,” said Dito as reported by Antara, Tuesday (27/8).
Dito emphasized that the 2024 PON budget, which is right on target, will have a positive impact on the economy of the regions hosting the PON.
He wants all parties to be open, trust each other, and collaborate for the 2024 PON, especially in the North Sumatra region.
“I hope the most important thing is openness regarding progress. Please let us trust each other and be sure that with good collaboration, this will be a very successful and historic PON,” said Dito.
Dito also emphasized that the success of PON 2024 is also measured from the administration and regional economic development side, especially in North Sumatra.

Acting Governor of North Sumatra Agus Fatoni, who attended the meeting, hoped that all parties would carry out their duties carefully, especially regarding budget use, to maintain accountability for the implementation of the 2024 PON in the North Sumatra region.
“In accordance with the Minister’s direction, we will discuss each field in detail,” said Agus.
The 2024 PON in Aceh-North Sumatra is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 20, with 65 sports being competed, 33 of which will be held in Aceh, and 34 in North Sumatra.
The Aceh venue will be attended by 6,287 athletes and 3,158 officials, while the North Sumatra venue will be attended by 6,618 athletes and 3,320 officials. (Z-6)
