At Christmas, I wrote a text on the 2024 vintage for the next draft.
I talked about eight hopes that hold my attention in view of the draft…And the name Tij Iginla was one of them.
That said, I was happy to learn from Stéphane Gonzalez that Iginla would interest the Canadian. At least that’s what the host revealed in his show today on BPM Sports.
Gonzo went even further by saying that there have already been several meetings between the player and the Montreal organization:

The Canadian would be drafted in 6th place if the draft took place this evening and that the lottery had no impact on his final selection rank.
At this spot-There is no doubt that the idea of getting your hands on a complete player like Iginla is interesting.
Because Tij Iginla does everything on the ice: he scores goals, he has great vision, he is powerful on his skates at six feet and 185 pounds, he plays like his father and he is able to get up in important moments .
This season, in Kelowna in the WHL (Rockets), Jarome’s son collected 47 goals and 37 assists for 84 points in only 64 games (at 17 years old). He also has five goals in three playoff games so far.

There is a big, big BUT to all of this.
The Flames have been bad lately while the Canadian has been winning his games.
If the Flames were to “overtake” the CH on the selection board, the chances of seeing Iginla end up in Montreal would probably be slimmer because in Calgary, we will want to draft the son of the man who was the face of the franchise for so many years.
At the time of writing these lines, the Canadian has 70 points on the clock… While the Flames have 73:

The end of the season for both clubs will therefore be one to watch.
In closing… Hearing Stéphane Gonzalez’s comments also allows us to believe that CH’s attention is really focused on an attacker for the next draft.
