The 92nd edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally was the scene of countless powerful images, starting on Thursday evening. The two night stages gave rise to a festival of dazzling red, emanating from the smoke from the spectators and the fireworks set off for the occasion.
On Friday morning, changing grip trapped several drivers in SS3, causing Ott Tänak (Hyundai), Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) and Grégoire Munster (Ford) to lose time. In the next sector, Thierry Neuville lost around ten seconds following a spin. Until the finish, many other drivers made trajectory errors in the premier category, notably Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) then Grégoire Munster (Ford), stopped once morest a barrier on SS12 on Saturday.
Despite his spin on SS4, Thierry Neuville continued to gain momentum on Sunday to impose his Hyundai ahead of the Toyotas of Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans. In WRC2, the French public was thrilled by the victory snatched at the wire by Yohan Rossel (Citroën), winner by 4 seconds ahead of the Spaniard Pépé Lopez (Skoda).
