“The year 2024 has already started”: many market experts think that the pause in interest rates confirmed by the president of the American Federal Reserve (Fed), Jerome Powell, during the monetary meeting on October 31 and last November 1, marked the end of the post-covid economic cycle, and of 2023. The markets changed trajectory and recovered more in a few weeks than in many months. US Treasury bonds saw their yield increase by more than 8%, following losing 4.7% between January and the end of October. The flagship indices of the stock market posted performances not seen for years: +11.7% for the S&P 500, +6.7% for the SMI.
