After the mixed success of the 2023 auto show, the automobile and cycle federation (Febiac) has decided not to organize the event in 2024.
This is the first time, with the exception of the “Covid” years, that the auto show will not take place in Brussels. In the dealership we visited, due to the lack of a salon, customers ask a lot more questions and find out more. “Before they went to the show, they had the choice between several vehicles, they might see them all at once. Today, they have to go through several concessions, it takes more time“, notes Wassim, a salesman.
No gathering does not mean no living room conditions, on the contrary. “Stocks are full once more. Manufacturers once once more have the capacity to produce vehicles quickly. This also explains why prices are falling and trade show conditions are more present than ever“, explains Christophe Dubon, spokesperson for Febiac.
Promotions, with particular attention to the conditions for taking back your old vehicle. Discounts go up to 25% depending on the brand. The objective: to reactivate the market among individuals. “In 2023, it was mainly driven by professional customers.”
The months of January and February, historically devoted to show conditions, are a turning point not to be missed for car sales. This period accounts for 30% of sales for the year. As for the question of the return of the auto show to Brussels: “We will see how the market evolves“, says Christophe Dubon.
