In women’s, Russian player Mira Andreeva upset sixth seed Tunisia’s Ons Jabiur (6-0, 6-2). Defending champion Aryana Zabalenka of Belarus advanced to the third round by defeating Brenda Fruvirtova of the Czech Republic (6-3, 6-2). Caroline Dolehidea of the US overcame Cocogaff (7-6, 6-2). 10th seed Brazil’s Beatrice Maia defeated Russia’s Alina Komeva (6-1, 6-2). Maria Timofeeva upset Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki (6-1,4-6,6-1).
