Since the sale of the DC football team, the Washington Commanders, was announced, a new wave of excitement has filled the team’s fans around the DMV as they celebrate the start of a new phase for the team.
After a week of celebrations, where fans got acquainted with the team’s new owners, the Commanders get back to work in spring training.
The pre-season training sessions open to the public began this Wednesday, July 26, and will last until August 19.
In a unanimous vote, the NFL on Thursday approved the sale of Dan Snyder’s Commanders to a new ownership group led by Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Josh Harris.
The team will give free tickets to all those who want to support the players who return from their annual break in the seats of their training center in Ashburn, Virginia.

NFL Spring Training is an event organized by the league’s teams to give fans a chance to see both veterans and rookies return to the field and prepare for the upcoming season.
This year, the Commanders will hold 12 open practice sessions from July 27 through August 19 at the OrthoVirginia Training Center at Commanders Park in Ashburn, Virginia.

Fans can book tickets through the Commanders website. And free parking will be provided.
There will also be food and beverage sales in the stadium and fans will be allowed to bring coolers with cold drinks (no outside food or alcohol allowed).
On practice days, the parking lot opens at 7:30 a.m., gates open at 8 a.m., and practice is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. although sessions may be called off at the discretion of the organizers, especially taking into account the possibility of severe weather events.
Due to recent extreme heat alerts, fans going to training are advised to take the necessary precautions. Staying hydrated and having access to shade when possible is imperative to staying safe at these types of events.
