On August 13, the reporter learned from the Sichuan Provincial Sports Bureau that the “Running Boys” 2023 Sichuan-Chongqing Youth (Children) Bicycle Fun Greenway Riding Carnival jointly sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial Sports Bureau and the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau will be held in August. On the 12th, it was held in the Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Park. More than 20 youth (children) bicycle teams from Sichuan and Chongqing signed up for the competition.

This event is divided into two groups: individual time trial and mixed team time trial. Among them, in the individual time trial, each athlete starts at an interval of 1 minute, and the athletes are ranked by the net time to reach the finish line. It tests the strength, endurance and skills of the athletes themselves. In the mixed team time trial, there are four athletes from each team. The time when the third athlete of each team reaches the finish line is the result of the team. It examines the overall strength of the whole team.
It is reported that there are more than 20 teams from various units in Sichuan and Chongqing participating in this event, and the age of the contestants is concentrated between 7 and 17 years old. A team member from the Children’s Amateur Sports School in Wenjiang District, Chengdu said: “I started riding a bicycle at the age of 5, and I am 12 years old this year. I love cycling very much. When I heard about this activity, I immediately signed up with the coach.” The relevant person in charge of the event organizer said that these teenagers used their weekend breaks or winter and summer vacations to participate in various cycling activities to hone their minds and enhance their physique.
In recent years, the sports departments of Sichuan and Chongqing have thoroughly implemented the strategy of building a twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. In 2023, they plan to jointly hold more than 10 Sichuan-Chongqing youth competitions, among which is the “Running Youth” 2023 Sichuan-Chongqing Children’s Competition.
