Many 2023 rates have already increased this year. If bank rates seemed to take 0.3% according to Panorabanques, some services are likely to take a much bigger increase. Inflation seems to be felt in many sectors. We’ll explaine everything here.

An increase in 2023 banking tariffs

Many banks had agreed to try to satisfy as much as possible the effects of inflation for the 2023 tariffs. And that seems to be a word kept. While the increase should not exceed 2%, according to Panorabanques, the latter seems to be only 0.3% according to an average of 144 banks. Thus, this increase in bank charges translates into 220.6 euros. Panorabanques declares “The moderate increase in bank charges is partly due to the merger of the Crédit du Nord Group banks with Société Générale. Former Crédit du Nord Group customers benefit from lower bank charges with this merger”.

On the other hand, this increase in 2023 prices is sometimes much stronger. This remains the case for ATM withdrawals at a competing bank. Some banks charge almost 6.25% of the amount withdrawn. This represents an average of 12.75 euros per year. So there are banks with different ways of doing things. If the Caisse d’Epargne Languedoc-Roussillon decides to increase the cost, others do the opposite. Indeed, banks want to make this operation free. This remains the case with the Crédit Agricole funds, which allow 3 or 4 transactions per month free of charge..

Crédit du Nord lowers fees

One of the other services which is likely to see the 2023 tariffs remains the loss and theft insurance of means of payment. This insurance remains very significant in the event of a fraudulent transfer to a bank account, which was very important at that time. But the cost for it does seem to be increasing. The latter goes from 24.4 euros to 26.5 euros, therefore an increase of 8.3%. But the Caisse d’Epargne has literally doubled its prices. Unlike Crédit du Nord, which decided to lower the price by going under the flag of Société Générale.

But bank cards will also see their 2023 prices increase. The prices of the latter increased by 0.4%, thus amounting to 43.6 euros per year. Deferred debit credit cards are subject to a 1% increase.

Account maintenance fees

But not all 2023 prices will necessarily increase too much. Account maintenance fees, which had increased by 6% in 2022, will not increase this year. The Capital site also quotes “Branch transfers have also stabilized, while the cost associated with this service had exploded by almost 10% in 2022”. In addition to this, decreases remain notable. In particular for the bank card with systematic authorization which lost 2.2%. And once more, it remains the Crédit du Nord banks which offer a bank of 13%. Also, the costs of sending the checkbook by registered mail will decrease by 3.5%. A significant drop which will also relieve the French.

So, despite inflation, many banks are trying to do their best so as not to let the 2023 rates impact the French too much. Thus, Crédit du Nord customers still seem to be the best off.
