The 2023 Mazda CX-50 crossover has become a new product for the Japanese brand in many ways. Therefore, it is not surprising that a few months following the start of sales, he was found to have malfunctions. Moreover, relatively recently it became known that this model is equipped with a problematic ABS control unit. It is reported that it can affect the operation of the braking system.

The fact is that Mazda CX-50 was brought to Russia in the spring. This model was brought to our country by parallel import. Therefore, it is possible that precisely those copies of the Japanese model that are equipped with problematic ABS were not delivered to Russia. And, importantly, domestic drivers will have to eliminate this shortcoming, since Mazda does not provide services in our country.
On the other hand, in early September, a new version of the CX-50 entered the Russian market, which turned out to be 500 thousand cheaper than the one that appeared in the spring. Now in our country you can buy a Japanese crossover at a price of 4.1 million rubles. True, for this amount a front-wheel drive version of the car is offered. This modification of the Japanese model was imported to Russia from China. We offered a front-wheel drive crossover with a single naturally aspirated 2.5-liter unit, the maximum output of which reaches 187 hp. The engine is combined with a 6-speed “automatic”.
The appearance of a new version of the Mazda CX-50 in Russia is also notable for the fact that the cost of a car in our country is gradually equalizing with the world one. In particular, regarding a month ago, an updated Japanese crossover debuted in the US. The changes were minor. But more importantly, the manufacturer abandoned the basic configuration. As a result, the price of the car exceeded 30 thousand dollars.
In the USA, the same 2.5-liter “aspirated” is offered for this money. In more expensive modifications, a turbocharged unit of the same volume is used, producing up to 260 hp. useful power. Note that an off-road version of the Japanese model with more efficient all-wheel drive is available on the American market. The latter, according to the official statement, constantly redistributes torque between the wheels, thereby minimizing the occurrence of slippage.
Moreover, this version of the Mazda CX-50 is able to automatically adapt to different types of terrain. That is, depending on the characteristics of the coating, the settings of the car change. For example, when you enter off-road mode, the front wheels bite harder into the ground, reducing the chance of skidding when cornering. All-wheel drive also contributes to this. It reduces the amount of torque transmitted to the rear.
Independent studies, including those conducted by owners of the Mazda CX-50, confirm the manufacturer’s claims that this crossover has good off-road capabilities. So, the car easily overcomes steep paths. However, the Japanese company does not recommend driving this crossover on difficult or swampy off-road.
Such a modification of the Japanese model is not currently supplied to Russia. In our country, mainly copies with a 2.5-liter “aspirated” are sold, when, as an off-road version, it is equipped with a turbo engine.
