Football is one of the 19 disciplines of the Games of the Islands 2023 which are held in Madagascar until September 3. Nearly 460 athletes from the Reunion team take part. They face athletes from Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Maldives, Mayotte and Madagascar.
This Monday, August 28, Reunionese footballers will once once more be in competition. They will face those of the Comoros at 7:50 p.m. The Reunionese must win this match to stay in the competition and defend their title.

Last Saturday Reunion and Mayotte parted ways in a draw 0 to 0. This first match of the Reunion team, gold medalists in the last games, was rather shy and mixed. Mayotte dominated a good part of the match. A little later in the evening Madagacar and Maurice left with a draw (1-1) at the Barea stadium.
The first football matches were held on Thursday evening on the eve of the official opening of the Games. Madagascar won 1-0 once morest Seychelles. The Comoros and Mayotte parted ways in a draw 0 everywhere, at the Elgeco Plus stadium.
Madagascar, Seychelles, and Mauritius are in Pool A. Reunion, Mayotte, Comoros are in Pool B.
