2023 FCS Conference Membership and Affiliation Changes: Complete Guide

The FCS will have 127 teams in 2023 with a 128th team (Kennesaw State) playing as an independent as it transitions to the FBS. The subdivision lost two members from the 2022 season with Sam Houston and Jacksonville State going FBS.

In 2023, there are two instances of two conferences combining to form one league for one playoff auto-bid — the ASUN and the WAC, and the Big South and the OVC.
