2023-24 Canadian NHL Season Preview: Expectations, Roster Changes, and Coverage Updates

The month of August marks (unfortunately, some will say) the start of the fall season. I know, we’re in the middle of summer, literally, but we’re already starting to buy school supplies, making plans for the return to life ” normal “, to accept that the days are beginning to get shorter, etc.

And we are starting to wonder what we can expect from the Canadian 2023-24.

Do the sets? Forget it right now! With the Maple Leafs, Lightning and Panthers likely to occupy the top three spots in the Atlantic Division, and the Bruins, Red Wings and Senators who are clearly ahead of CH right now, we won’t hold our breath.

The team fell from 32nd to 28th position last year. If all goes well – and the infirmary does not fill up as much as in the previous two campaigns – we can hope to see the Habs finish 24th or 25th next season. In short… not to make the playoffs, but not to fish very high following two years of speaking in the top five.

The coverage of the Canadian will also change somewhat this fall.

Jean-Charles Lajoie will not be back on BPM Sports. Whether following a dismissal or a mutual decision, we have to admit that his starving ratings, the fact that his show was repeated on the radio and the TV or even his few escapades on the air (dig a little and you will find), the result remains the same: Paul Houde and Gilbert Delorme will be the hosts of the show morning on the RNC Media sports network.

Stéphane Gonzalez will replace my colleague and friend Maxime Truman alongside Georges Laraque during lunchwhile Martin Lemay will be back in his spot usual : the return.

Who will complete the BPM Sports grid? Max Lalonde just added @BPMSports to his bio on Twitter. Could it be that BPM has a new Max on the air this fall? #MaxVanHoutte #MaxTruman #MaxLalonde

With the return of Gonzo at BPM Sports, a void has been created at La Poche Bleue. Who will host the daily show on lunch at the flagship of Guillaume Latendresse and Maxim Lapierre?

According to what I have been able to learn over the past few hours, Stéphane Gonzalez will not be replaced. The show straddling the broadcast Web and the broadcast TV traditional was not working and the leaders of LPB would have decided not to put more time and effort into such a difficult niche. Especially when you fight once morest Georges Laraque and Martin Lemay at the same time!

I’m guessing the food and football podcast Le Snack won’t be back since Gonzo is leaving the daily lunch slot, but that’s pure speculation on my part for now.

No one at La Poche Bleue wanted to confirm or deny the news.

The weekly edition of podcast original will be back and this, with grosse novelty. Word of Maxim Lapierre…

Some podcasts more marginals might disappear and others appear. We are not afraid to test things at LPB.

And unlike others, we don’t work too hard when a project doesn’t survey not.

I’m already looking forward to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation golf tournament and the opening of training camp.

Is It October September Yet?

Prolongation

It’s not just Stéphane Gonzalez who will be less present on TVA Sports this fall. Several people will not be back, or will be in a diminished role.

The good news is that TVA Sports increased its market share last season.

The bad news is that revenue has not kept pace, which has maintained or worsened the company’s net loss.
